Go for a walk, even if you are not doing a step challenge!
I have read this advice in so many books: ”go for a walk” and it has been so useful in my life! In the morning (if I am at the beach it’s even better) to notice things, to enjoy the breakfast even more later on…To calm down if I am feeling anxious, angry, sad or confused… To relieve the stress from a long day working… To have an open conversation with anyone…To burn some calories… To notice nature…To improve your mood!… To do a beach clean!…To spend time with my father… To enjoy my time while my boyfriend is surfing…
I have been in a step challenge in my work. during the last month. Thye gave me a watch so I could keep track of my steps (average 10k/day). So cool to see how many steps some people do in a day (some are so consistent with the 17k, some go for log walks in a day reaching 20k+, and some are so impacted by disease – I have got less than 600 sets on my first day with covid).
Here are some notes from Austin Kleon on his book ”Keep Going”:
Demons hate fresh air
- Walking is a magic cure for people who wants to think straight.
- The moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow
- Good for physical, spiritual and mental health
- If we do not get outside, if we do not take a walk out in the fresh air, we do not see our everyday world for what it really is…
- Walk by yourself
- Walk with a friend
- Walk with a loved one
- Walk with a dog (my dream!)
- Walk with a coworker
- Grabe plastic bags
